What shall I Wear To Eternity? – Dressing for Death

What shall i wear to eternity?
Dressing for your final performance. If you like most people you probably do not give much thought to your mortality and even less thought to what you
dress-upwill wear to this inevitable outcome. In the Western World men are typically buried in formal attire, such as a suit or coat and tie, and women in semi-formal dresses or pant suits. But in recent years in my opinion due in large part to the baby boomers getting a little more grey, a change has occurred and many individuals are now buried in less formal clothing such as they might have worn on a daily basis or other favorite attire. This trend is ever growing the owning of ones own funeral.
More people are pre-planning what they will wear and this has so much to do with who YOU are! I know some people who would be horrified at what their family would dress them in and would be sad and embarrassed if they were to have to wear this outfit through eternity conversely i know people who dont care at all about this aspect of passing on.
Clothing worn can also commonly reflect the deceased person’s profession or vocation: Priests and ministers, military personnel and police often wear their uniforms and

In certain instances a funeral director will request a specific style of clothing, such as a collared shirt or blouse, in order to cover traumatic marks or autopsy incisions if there will be a viewing. In many areas of Asia and Europe, the custom is of dressing the body in a specially designed shroud/funeral gown, rather than in clothing used by the living.

It comes down to whether you want to be involved in your own funeral or not and whether your traditional or anything but. My feeling is that a funeral should be planned down to evey detail just as you would look forward to and plan a wedding in fact i believe more time and planning should be done on your funeral as it only happens once in life and we know that weddings may happen more than that. In closing if your can see your or a loved ones funeral as a celebration of a wonderful life then planning it becomes a joy and will bring you that peace of mind you get when you take responsibility for your life. I say be yourself at your own funeral dress how you want  leave your wishes in writing, its your last chance to express yourself.

Your never to young to let your wishes be known. I think I will wear a ringleaders tails and topahat to the big event.
